If Caifanes was the Spanish Cure, then Duncan Dhu was the Spanish Smiths. Maybe I'm a little biased because the singer's solo stuff introduced me to the Smiths, but there are a lot of similarities between both groups: jangly pop guitar and pompous front man are the first two that come to mind.
Anyway, this was a band that I listened to a lot growing up so I was very surprised to learn that Creation records had released one of their albums. Actually it's a compilation of previously released material to introduce the band to an English audience.

Hmm, two poppy female fronted albums back to back? Never thought I'd see the day...
This album had been on my iTunes for over a year when one of the songs came on my shuffle and I had one of those "I can't believe I didn't listen to this sooner" moments. Minimal acoustic duo consisting of the singer from Young Marble Giants (Devine) and the guitarist from Ludus (Statton). Their first of two albums released on legendary Belgian label Les Disques Du Crepuscule. Includes an amazing New Order cover:

After hearing Dan Barrett (Have A Nice Life) rave about him for months I decided to check it out and was very impressed. Unique blend of catchy pop melodies with post punk, goth, and shoegaze all laced in there.
