Please understand that we invested
thousands of hard earned dollars and hundreds of hours of work to make these
recordings a reality. They also embody a lifetime of experience and hard
work. In the current climate, where many
people think it's somehow OK to steal (or "share", if you will) music,
rather than pay the artist and, in our case, the small and struggling record
company, for the privilege of enjoying their music, it's increasingly
unlikely that we'll be able to continue making music at all. Here's an
analogy which might help you understand our position: a cabinet maker, with
years of experience and skill, makes a series of cabinets. He works months
on them, crafting them and perfecting them. He loves his work, but of course
needs to be able to sell these cabinets in order to make a living as well as
continue making more cabinets. When he's finished this particular series of
cabinets, he stores them in the garage before shipping them off to a store
to be sold. His bills are due, he fronted the money for the materials, and
of course he spent hundreds of hours crafting them. He's really looking
forward to getting paid for them once they've sold at the store. The morning
that he's meant to ship them off to the store, he goes out the garage and
they're gone. Someone took them, thinking they should be "free". Possibly,
you can imagine his disappointment. As the sole employee at Young God, I
find myself in this exact same position, increasingly, and the artists on my
label bear the same consequences and share equally in this disappointment.
It's incredibly frustrating. My hope is that you'll understand the inherent
ethical issues raised here, and you'll decide to remove the files you've
posted immediately. Thanks! Michael Gira/Young God Records

I understand completely: files will be taken down promptly.

However, to my knowledge Cop and Young God are both out of print, and I'm not exactly sure why sharing these is wrong.

ah!
aside from the gratitude of prompt removal of your linkage (i'm sure it's still kinda exists up there now somewheres) and stopping further upload of said catalog (easily obtainable via torrents however, helloo? 2010?) i leave you this cliché:
"ours is not to reason why, ours is but to do or die."

again, thanks and again, please understand ethics.

p.s. nice taste.
