Liars - The Overachievers

SO MUCH MUSIC TO POST and yet so little time lately. Head is going to explode.
Single off Sisterworld by the best band of the past decade. Includes two unreleased b-sides and if you know anything about Liars then you know that their b-sides are just as good as album tracks.

A man must be orthodox in most things

Current 93 - All The Pretty Little Horses

PussyGutt - She Hid Behind Her Veil...

Damn, this record is impeccable but you've never heard of this band. Probably because they have one of the worst names ever, but they changed it to WOLVSERPENT so I'm sure they'll get signed to Southern Lord soon since their new album is one of the best of 2010 (you can stream it on 20 Buck Spin's site.) Anyway, PussyGutt is a guy girl duo from Idaho. They do long doomy droney tracks with string arrangments, my words fail to adequately describe it and I'm kind of buzzed but it's like Sunn O))) meets Nadja with more ambiance. Just download it.

Sarcófago - I.N.R.I.

True Brazilian black metal? Yup. Released in 1987, praised as an underrated classic, and credited with being the a huge influence on black metal image.

Xasthur - Defective Epitaph

Don't you love it when your black neighbors decide to start playing R&B music really obnoxiously loud at 10 AM when you went to bed at 4AM the night before? So you need to out black them and play some black metal really fucking loud to scare their six kids that like to hop into your yard randomly.

Think of me when you touch yourself tonight

This is a band from New York called SHOPPERS. Their first tape rules and you didn't listen to it, but that's okay because it's in the archives. This is a new song from their upcoming tape called Goodbye To All That, it should be out by the end of the month. If you are on the east coast you can check them out live this coming week.
Check them out here for more info.

SHOPPERS - IV (Goodbye to all that)

Chase the bull in a china shop

At The Drive-In - In/Casino/Out

This is one of my favorite albums of all time, quite possibly top ten, and yet, I hardly ever listen to it. Maybe a day or two out of the year, but I'll play it 50 times in a row and I'll dedicate a whole afternoon just rediscovering how amazing this record is and unearthing all of the feelings I've anchored to it.
At The Drive-In was a post-hardcore group out of El Paso, Texas. Relationship of Command is widely acknowledged as their masterpiece, and though I would agree in terms of it being technically better and overall more sonically ambitious, I prefer In/Casino/Out despite having heard Relationship of Command first and all of the negative associations with ATDI's earlier work. Something about the sheer emotional overload and sincerity of it all really appeals to the sappy guy in me.

Nostalgia trip.

a friend and I started a new blog called the Garbageman and the Prostitute where we will be posting anything GSL/31G/5RC/Load/Skin Graft related that was prevalent from the late 90s to the mid 00s. So if you're into that sort of music please watch this space.

1978-81 BR (Before Rollins)

Black Flag - The First Four Years

Get your friends go to the store buy the cheapest case of beer you can find go to an empty parking lot in your El Dorado blast this album get wasted stab some dudes who look at you the wrong way bang some girls without a rubber.
Fripp & Eno - (No Pussyfooting)

Here's a record I've been meaning to post for a few months and when I finally get around to it Mediafire decides to die for a day. Robert Fripp is basically King Crimson; Brian Eno is a legendary producer and a pioneer of ambient music after a failed venture in glam rock. Together they looped guitar riffs through tape machines to create what has come to be known as an early example of ambient music.

Highly recommended if you're a fan of Heldon, Klaus Schulze, early Tangerine Dream, etc.

Jaga Jazzist - A Livingroom Hush

Norwegian modern jazz on Ninja Tune. Sounds like Aphex Twin meets Charles Mingus.

Sep 4, 2010

Charles Bronson - Complete Discocrappy

(Both discs in one zip file.)

A hundred and something tracks of youth crew bashing Mark McCoy powerviolence.
Discharge - Hear Nothing See Nothing Say Nothing

Punk fucking rock. Not cool unless you're a hip girl trying to impress boys or rebel against your parents by going to art school or both.

I won't say it if you don't say it first

The Cure - Japanese Whispers

This is a compilation of three Cure singles released after Pornography and the following album, The Top, in 83-84. Apparently Robert Smith spent some time in rehab and they had some line-up difficulties following the release of Pornography, explaining the drastic change in style. But these are some of my favorite Cure tracks, collecting "Let's Go To Bed", "The Walk", and "The Lovecats singles."
