This will probably be my last post for the remainder of the quarter, so I figured I'd make it study appropriate.

You probably saw this on Stephen O'Malley's website a couple of years ago like I did. Craig Colorusso sets up 20 solar powered speakers in an open space, each with its own guitar loop that's part of a tranquil ambient composition. These are actual field recordings from his outdoor installations with audible fauna in the background. It's actually giving me flashbacks of Joshua Tree at night. Shell out a couple bucks for a download or buy a physical copy here.
Deutsch-Amerikanische-Freundschaft - Kebabträume / Gewalt

Kreator - Pleasure to Kill

The original death metal record.

Franz from the band Monozid sent me some stuff to check out, and you know I can't say "nien" to a German. Turns out they're pretty good! Post-punky, early Factory records feel to it.

Give them a listen:

Their discography is up for grabs here.

As promised, the second part of my I Am Spoonbender revival trilogy:

The most overlooked album of the 90s? Maybe a bit too bold of a claim but definitely the most overlooked album on GSL's roster! IAS was (is???) at its core Cup and Dustin with a rotating set of musicians making unclassifiable tunes in their mysterious studio above San Fran's legendary Aquarius Records. Featuring: drum and bass, heavy modular synthesizer foreplay, tape loops, field recordings, telepathic subliminal messages, Uri Geller references before you started reblogging every picture of Carl Sagan in front of a nebula, and the best fucking asymmetrical haircuts since A Flock of Seagulls. You've slept on this for long enough, now here's your chance to catch up.

Teletwin EP

I've always thought of this as a b-sides collection to Sender/Receiver. Has an alternate version of "Stopwatch Static" that gives the original a run for its money, a reworking of Berlin's "Metro" and four lengthy instrumental jams.
Useless trivia of the day: the vinyl for this was pressed as a three "sided" record, meaning the second side has two grooves in it allowing for random play.

Felt - Forever Breathes the Lonely World

Tonight on I'll be doing a Creation Records themed show. If it was up to me, I'd lock myself up in the station and play this record all day long. Tune in from 6-8PM PST.

Sodom - Obsessed By Cruelty

Bummed out by that new Metallica/Lou Reed album? Headbang your sorrows away to this proto-black metal/Teutonic thrash classic. Vinyl rip of the original EU press, which is actually the second recording of this album.

The only GSL band I still listen to

I Am Spoonbender - Shown Actual Size

Been talking about posting this for years and now that I'm bent on posting the rest of Coil's discography it makes sense. Unfortunately, I don't have all of my IAS albums with me so this will have to suffice for now.
IAS was a San Francisco group, heavily influenced by Coil, Psychic TV, Throbbing Gristle, etc. They actually got me into all of that music. This EP is part of their later work, which became much more synth/vocal oriented.

Coil - Musick to Play in the Dark Vol. 2

Finishing what I started.
